Communication to Our Congregation Regarding the Search for a New Minister

For the past 18 months, a special committee of Neepawa United Church members has been looking for a new minister. This search committee has not yet been able to find a candidate that is qualified to minister in the United Church, and who could fill the ministry needs of our congregation.

It is time to pursue other options.  The Board requested and has received permission from the Pastoral Relations Commission of our Regional Council of the United Church of Canada, to pursue an Ecumenical Shared Ministry with St. James Anglican Church.  This is one way of meeting ministry needs as they too are without a minister.  A committee has been formed to develop an Ecumenical Shared Ministry Agreement so that our two congregations could worship and work together as well as search for a minister together.  St. James Anglican Church has appointed a similar committee.

The committee is at the beginning stages of this process and will provide updates on this website as progress is made. Members of the committee are: Lynda Lowry, Murray Hart, Dave Cochrane, and Bob Durston from Neepawa United; and Rev. Heather Lea and Rev. Lynne Sanderson representing the Committee on Community of Faith Support of the Prairie to Pine Regional Council of the United Church of Canada.
