Congregational Meeting Minutes

 

 

1. Bert Lowry called the meeting to order.

 

2. Motion: Moved by Susan Phillips, seconded by Brian Bailey. That Bert Lowry be the Chairperson for this meeting. Carried.

 

3. Motion: Moved by Colleen Taylor, seconded by Donna Newton. That Linda Hart be the Recording Secretary for this meeting. Carried.

 

4. Pastoral Relations Commission Representative

Bert Lowry introduced John Lea who is representing the Pastoral Relations Commission of the Prairie to Pine Region, in the place of Harold Kenyon. John indicated that this Congregational Meeting and motions passed will allow the Neepawa Pastoral Charge to move forward in the process of finding a minister.

 

5. Purposes of the Congregational Meeting

a) To receive the report and recommendations of the Neepawa Ministry Profile Committee.

Murray Hart, on behalf of the Committee, outlined the work of the Neepawa Ministry Profile Committee and summarized the Report that they prepared. Committee Members are: Brian Bailey, Jane Goudie, Dave Dyck, Jean Jackson, Dave Cochrane and Murray Hart.

b) To approve a motion requesting the Pastoral Relations Commission of the Prairie to Pine Region of the United Church of Canada approve the commencement of a Search process and the posting of the ministry profile for a full-time ministry position for an Ordained, Diaconal or Designated Lay Minister on Neepawa Pastoral Charge.

 

6. Bert Lowry explained the possible outcomes of today’s meeting:

i) The Report may be accepted as presented.

ii) The congregation may choose not to receive the Report and give the Committee new direction.

That Neepawa Pastoral Charge receive for information the report of the Ministry Profile Committee, with thanks for their work on our behalf. Carried.

 

Motion #2

 

Moved by Ruth Hanke Seconded by Wayne Hollier

 

That Neepawa Pastoral Charge having received the report of the Ministry Profile Committee and having reviewed its recommendations, request that Pastoral Relations Commission of the Prairie to Pine Region of the United Church of Canada approve the commencement of the Search process and the posting of the ministry profile for a full-time ministry position for an Ordained, Diaconal or Designated Lay Minister on Neepawa Pastoral Charge, effective July 1, 2019 with the following terms:

1. Salary up to Category (A-F) – COL 2

2. Additional salary above increment expressed as a dollar amount $2000.00

3. Telephone (excluding personal long distance)/internet $ 80.00 per month

4. Continuing Education and Learning $ 1415.00 per annum

5. Three weeks of study leave within each pastoral year, including Sundays

6. No less than three consecutive months of sabbatical leave after five consecutive years of service to the pastoral charge that is part to this covenant

8. Moving expenses to a maximum of $7500

9. Travel expenses reimbursement (based on Minimum Salaries for Ministry Personnel schedule)

10. Pension and other benefits as assessed

With Neepawa Pastoral Charge committing to remuneration of the ministry personnel through the Pastoral Charge Payroll Service (ADP #JFTH)
