January 15, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Bob Durston and seconded by Brian Bailey. That the policy of the Neepawa United Church purchase five new 10LB fire extinguishers from Murray’s Fire Extinguishers at a cost of $565. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Bob Durston and seconded by Brian Bailey. That the Neepawa United Church Board recommend to the congregation the acceptance of the Neepawa United Church Policies and Procedures Manual dated January 15, 2019. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Brian Elgert and seconded by Linda Hart. That, if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints accept our rate and the facility is available and Bob thinks it is acceptable, we allow Bob to go forward with the rental. Carried.

Feb. 19, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Susan Phillips. That the Rotary Club of Neepawa be allowed 2 days for set up and pay rental for 4 days for their Book Sale. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Jane Goudie. That the Worship Committee recommends to the Board that Stephanie Morfitt be accepted into Church membership through adult baptism. Carried.

 

March 12, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Ella Jarvis. That the Neepawa United Church mail be picked up by the Secretary and directed to the appropriate persons. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Judy Elgert. That those doing Church business use the second office (library) thus leaving the main office available for daily traffic. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Susan Phillips and seconded by Jane Goudie. That we employ Dawn Gardy as Office Manager of Neepawa United Church effective April 1st, 2019. Job description to be formalized. Hours and pay to remain as now. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Bob Durston and seconded by Brian Bailey. That Neepawa United Church accept the Proposal for Distribution of Financial Assets of the Neepawa and Area Pastoral Charge with distribution of the Internship and GIC by April 5 and the chequing account portion be distributed after final cheques clear. Carried.

 

#5 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Jan Bailey. That the Worship Committee advertise for Holy Week music with NACTV during the necessary days, up to 7, preceding Holy Week(April 10-14) events. Carried.

 

#6 Motion made by Susan Phillips and seconded by Ella Jarvis. That we allow the local A.A. group to resume Thursday evening meetings. The cost to be $30.00 per week to cover cost of custodian to open the door. Carried.

 


April 16, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Susan Phillips. That $26,366.80 from the Pastoral Charge dissolution be deposited in our general account. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Brian Elgert. That we donate $500 to NACTV as part of their annual campaign. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Jan Bailey. That the Worship Committee recommends to the Neepawa United Church Board that for Mother’s Day we donate $100 to Rock Lake United Church Camp and for Father’s Day we donate $100 to Rock Lake United Church Camp.

Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Susan Phillips. The Worship Committee recommends to the Board that the Neepawa United Church host the Anglican Church for July services at 10 am, and that we attend services at the Anglican Church, which start at 11 am, in the month of August. Carried.

 

May 21, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Susan Phillips. That Dawn take her holidays (3 weeks) from August 6 to 28. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Brian Elgert and seconded by Brian Bailey. That Bert, Bob and John Douglas will make decisions on hot water heater, furnace, etc if tender is under $20,000. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Jane Goudie and seconded by Brian Elgert. That we get a quote to paint the CE building including CE, kitchen, entrance way(up and down), coat rack area, bathrooms, fire escape entrances, the same colour as it is now – two coats. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Susan Phillips. That the Neepawa United Church Board approve the transfer of membership of Joy Walker from Neepawa United Church to Minnedosa United Church. Carried.

 

June 18, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Bob Durston and seconded by John Douglas. That the Neepawa United Church request from the Canadian Cancer Society and the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities support for divesting the Roselea No. 3 Net Royalty Trust to Lintus Resources Limited for the amount of $650 CDN. Carried.

#2 Motion made by John Douglas and seconded by Jane Goudie. That Bert Lowry, Bob Durston and John Douglas be authorized to decide on a paint tender for the CEC as long as it does not exceed $3,000 plus taxes. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by John Douglas and seconded by Jane Goudie. That the Board authorize Dawn to change our MTS Plan to the Professional Plus for $59.95 per month for a 3 year term and that Bob Durston be authorized to sign the contract. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by John Douglas. That the Neepawa United Church Board accept transfer of membership of Janet Angus from Douglas United Church to Neepawa United Church. Carried.

 

#5 Motion made by John Douglas and seconded by Nora Kaye. That the Christmas Eve service for 2019 be held at 7:00 pm. Carried.

 

September 17, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Donna Newton. That Rita Friesen be appointed to the Neepawa United Church Board as Sacraments Elder. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Donna Newton and seconded by Pat Fedoruk. That we permit the Girl Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers to use the basement of the CEC for Wednesday night meetings Sept. 18, 2019 to end of May 2020. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Jan Bailey. That we sell some of the little red chairs from the Sunday School at the Gently Used Sale and the proceeds go to the UCW. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Donna Newton. That Joe Ball be invited, by letter, to perform communion on World Wide Communion Sunday October 6, 2019. Carried.

 

#5 Motion made by Nora Kaye and seconded by Jane Goudie. That the Board pay for the lunch for the Westman Youth Choir(lunch being provided by the UCW) and that the Board make a donation of $250.00 to the Westman Youth Choir. Carried.

 

October 15, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Nora Kaye and seconded by Susan Phillips. That we permit the Neepawa Community Ministries Centre(Salvation Army) to rent the CEC kitchen for the Food Explorers Guide to Cooking on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 beginning Thursday Oct. 17 to December 5 (skipping Oct. 31). Carried.

#2 Motion made by Jane Goudie and seconded by Brian Bailey. That we replace the eavestrough and downspout on the old part of the building (Chisle Construction $535.50) and also the concrete to slope away from the building with concrete patio blocks plus labour (Chisle Construction $2,048.47).

Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Murray Hart and seconded by Judy Elgert. That the transfer of memberships for Betty Patterson, from Westminster United Church, Foxwarren, and Colleen Taylor from Knox Presbyterian, Neepawa, be accepted by re-affirmation of faith. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Nora Kaye. That we reimburse John Lea $25 per hour of service for 15 hours serving on the Board. Carried.

 

 

 

 

November 19, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Susan Phillips. That we contribute $500 to the Plumas Lions Club for the Plumas family that was left homeless and parentless by a recent fire. Carried.

#2 Motion made by John Douglas and seconded by Susan Phillips. That the Board authorize the spending of up to $500 on a Christmas display. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Brian Bailey. That on the recommendation of the Worship Committee, the transfer of memberships for Eileen Newton and Lorna Cawston-Boyd, from Kelwood United Church to the Neepawa United Church, be accepted by the Board. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Bob Durston. That the Worship Committee recommends to the Neepawa United Church Board that Rita Friesen be granted permission to meet with Kevin Wallace, a potential candidate for adult confirmation. Carried.

 

#5 Motion made by Pat Fedoruk and seconded by Bob Durston. That the Worship Committee recommends to the Neepawa United Church Board the infant baptism of Harper June Lowry, daughter of Matthew and Jenna Lowry. Carried.

 

December 17, 2019

 

#1 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Judy Elgert. That the Board increase Doug’s rate of pay to $17.00 per hour effective January 1, 2020. Carried.

#2 Motion made by Brian Bailey and seconded by Judy Elgert. That the Board increase Dawn’s rate of pay to $14.50 per hour effective January 1, 2020. Carried.

 

#3 Motion made by Bob Durston and seconded by John Douglas. That the Board top up the M&S budgeted amount of $15,000 if required. Carried.

 

#4 Motion made by Susan Phillips and seconded by Pat Fedoruk. That the Neepawa United Church apply for video licensing. Joint Audio Ciné Film and Criterion will cost $150 plus $70 (based on average Sunday attendance) for 2020. Carried.

 

#5 Motion made by Judy Elgert and seconded by Brian Bailey. That the Board rent the CEC building to the Rotary Club of Neepawa for their annual book sale at the same rate as last year, $910 for April 15 to April 18, 2020. They can set up on Tuesday or Monday if available. Carried.
