Neepawa United Church

September 9, 2014

Present: Brian Elgert, Bob Durston, Donna Newton, Bev Finlayson, Kristin Wood,

Ella Jarvis, Ann Nielsen, Eleanor Nicholson, Susan Phillips, Judy Elgert,

Maurice Kaye and Lyle Byram.

Regrets: Brian Bailey, Rita Friesen and Ruth Hanke.

  1. Brian Elgert called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

  2. Kristin Wood gave the Opening Meditation.

  3. Moved by Bob Durston and seconded by Donna Newton that the Agenda

be approved as circulated. Carried.

  1. Moved by Bob Durston and seconded by Eleanor Nicholson that the Minutes

of the June meeting be approved as circulated. Carried.

to date has not taken place. Held a discussion on this matter and felt

there is a need to hold this meeting soon.

Donna will talk to Darlene from Brookdale to set a date for the meeting.

Assiniboine North Parent Child Coalition be authorized to use the CEC

on October 20th; November 3, 17; December 1, 15; January 19th;

(unless conflicting with Church functions) at a fee of $400. Carried.

Motion #2 – Moved by Donna Newton and seconded by Bob Durston that

Neepawa United Church approve the renewal of Church Copy right

Licence from CCLI for November 1, 2014 to October 31, 2015. Carried.

Minute for Mission stories in order to keep the congregation informed about

  1. Ministry and Personnel

The meeting was attended by Keith (Arden); Kelly (Brookdale); Brian

(Neepawa) and Kristin. Kristin spent a good deal of time reporting on her

summer activities. She voiced a concern that she needs to be informed of

people who need visits beyond those who are hospitalized or PCH. Some

discussion surrounded the issue of ministerial review which should take

place annually. The wheels for that review have been put in motion and

feedback will be required from each congregation. For our next meeting

we hope to prepare a ‘wish list” of ministerial duties and then we proceed to

assess how well this list has been fulfilled. Input from each congregation would

be helpful in preparing this wish list. The next meeting will be December 9th.

Motion #8 - Moved by Ann Nielsen and seconded by Susan Phillips that the Board

accept and approve the request for Joanne Kury and Scott MacAulay to

officiate at the July 11, 2015 nuptials of Kristin Wood and Shane Burke. Carried.

Motion #9 –Moved by Ann Nielsen and Susan Phillips that the Board accept the

request for marriage of Tannis Hart and Kevin Brown on January 3, 2015. Carried.

 

 

Motion #10 - Moved by Ann Nielsen and seconded by Susan Phillips that the

Board accept the confirmation of David Cochrane on August 31, 2014. Worship

Committee made aware and approved. Carried.

Motion #11 – Moved by Ann Nielsen and seconded by Susan Phillips that the Board

accept the baptism of Quinn Margaret Clarke, daughter of Robyn Lowry Clarke

and Travis Clarke on August 31, 2014. Worship Committee were made aware

and approved. Carried.

  1. Presbytery –

Ella Jarvis reported that Presbytery Meeting will be at Roland, Manitoba

on September 16th and 17th. Susan Phillips and Kristin Wood will attend.

  1. Special reports

Moved by Bob Durston and seconded by Susan Phillips that all reports be

accepted as presented. Carried.

  1. New Business

School supplies. Brian suggested we put a container at the back of the Church

for anyone wishing to donate. A tax receipt will be issued for donations over

$20.00

to arrange this and set a date.

  1. Next meeting October 7th at 7:00 p.m.

  2. Kristin gave the Closing Prayer.
